I really enjoyed it though! By the last 100 pages I could hardly put it down, I found myself entranced by the creepy yet somehow beautiful stories embedded in the book. I really did enjoy the story that was set in Antarctica. The ending, which is a little bit of a surprise even though it really shouldn’t have been, was interesting and disconcerting. I enjoyed this book. There were some pictures, too, but I have to say they weren't the best; some of them were too simple. What I loved best about it was that the author pulled off thirteen distinct voices seamlessly! But the stories he hears draw him in – until he has to tell one of his own…. Everything is nostalgically old-fashioned in this collection of original ghost stories. Like most anthologies, there were some stories I liked more than others but overall Thirteen Chairs provided lots of chills and was a simple yet masterful horror book. While none of the stories are particularly unique, they’re well-written and easy to read. A particularly creepy one, to me, was “Unputdownable”. Does this book have a plot or is it more like a collection of short stories connected together? Welcome back. Overall, Thirteen Chairs by Dave Shelton didn’t quite live up to my expectations (I think I was thinking it’d be a bit more adult than it was), but it was a good read nevertheless. Each person tells a horror story. Obviously, its one adults can enjoy, too, if they keep in mind that it is aimed at a younger audience. Read through this round of creepy stories to find out what Jack finds out--what happens at the creepy old house once a year? As well as , what would be an overall theme?
