the final terror review

The Final Terror isn't the slasher classic that Halloween and Friday the 13th are. Background activity offers plenty of clarity and discrete effects to keep viewers engaged, but overall imaging lacks some presence and feels pretty narrow. By creating an account, you agree to the Privacy Policy Namely the initial entering of the shack in the woods, the quiet stalking then loud attack on the disabled bus, and the glimpses of what you think are forest scenery that then begins to creep and crawl revealing it's the camouflaged killer. Really the material doesn't allow much room for growth and makes them all unappealingly disposable. The script comes from Ronald Shusett ('Alien,' 'Total Recall'), Neill D. Hicks and Jon George, and it's the furthest thing from original. 10 years later, on Thanksgiving, Todd escapes and a killing spree begins in his neighborhood. Too low of a body count, no female flesh,, and no scares. (1983). Should have known something was up when I saw Jon George and Neill Hicks to of the men responsible for the horrid "Escape 2000" also wrote this one. |, July 8, 2014 Five young people venture into the backwoods of Oregon to claim a property, and find themselves being stalked by a hulking, machete-wielding psychopath. the Slasher version of "1941" (high star power, terrible movie). Plot wise it is the familiar group of young adults out camping & exploring the wilderness, only to be stalked and slashed by some crazed psycho. The idea of the young men and women taking a pro-active stance against the killer, in one united group, is original for a horror movie of this type but it's badly done here. On the internet review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 38% approval rating with an average rating of 3.9/10 based on 8 reviews. and to receive email from Rotten Tomatoes and Fandango. One scene freaked me out. I watched Friday 13th straight after, and that film looked on a different planet to this. Another funny thing is half the cast are hiding either Australian or English accents, and not very well. This is a non-typical example of a slasher movie from the Golden era of that genre, with a great cast of wanna-be stars (from Darryl Hannah and Rachel Ward to Adrian Zmed and especially Joe Pantoliano, almost impossible to recognize), a usual wooden scenario, a couple of interesting scenes - like the night attack against the bus by the prowler of this movie that will be re-enacted in Jeepers Creepers 2 and the very good finale - but also with several choices that are unusual in a movie of this kind. Overall color palette is dull and listless, but primaries are decently accurate. All Critics (9) In the UK it was passed uncut for cinema under the title of Campsite Massacre, sadly it was later cut for video under the name The Final Terror. This film was clearly inspired by the immense success of "Friday the 13th" and similar teenkill-movies, yet it almost ends up being an homage to "Deliverance" because of director Andrew Davis' exaggerated respect for the wildlife setting. Not a lot of people die in Terror, which leaves most of the tension in how the large group will get out of their current predicament. It has its moments, but fails to really come out of first-gear. A group of rangers go camping on unfamiliar forest grounds. THE FINAL TERROR is an average horror movie. 8 of 11 people found this review helpful. More of a survivalist adventure with slasher elements than a straightforward kill-'em-off. You can tell it’s her second film because she just barely escapes being a background character. If you want an early slasher, this won’t waste your time. The inspirational for this sub-standard, low-budget woodland slasher/survival horror is obvious ('Friday the 13th'and 'Deliverance'), but even then it took the hackneyed clichés and kind of added its own messy slab to the well-worn formula.
