faces in the crowd review

This short but ambitious novel by the Mexican writer Valeria Luiselli was much acclaimed when it was published in English in 2014. 04/24/2019 This time it’s not zombies she’s fighting but the serious effects of a rare brain disorder she’s contracted. As a reviewer, I know there will this certain blandness that viewers may criticize, though it’s the unique changing perspective that really wins the prize this round. This includes faces changing, faces becoming the same, face blending and a serious lack of recognition that stays in effect through the entire film. “What’s this story actually about?” as one character asks at one point, voicing the audience’s concerns as he does so. . Now as a rather bizarre thriller mystery, “Faces in the Crowd” projects the effects that Anna is experiencing. The condition is a real life condition called “Prosopagnosia” or on its simpler term of “face blindness”. The way she writes is the difference between art and a painting.
